Hi all,

Heather is now back in Cambridge, after a short but culture-filled visit to Aachen. She went to the jewellery* yesterday to finalise the order for our wedding bands. We also selected a cake and bought a few things to make it, as well as a few pair of shoes (I still don't know why one was not enough =P).

See you all in August.

Our wedding date has now been confirmed as the 18th of August, 2010. Our deposit has been paid, and planning is starting for real!

We haven't done anything. We are planning on putting the down payment on the castle in August, one year from the date. Then we can start doing things. My sister visited us, and now that she has left, I am trying hard to get a job.

There's really nothing we can do just now, until we put the deposit on the castle. We got the sculpey in the post, but we haven't done anything with it yet. H&M finally emailed me and confirmed that I didn't get the job, and I haven't been able to get any other interviews. Well that's really it for now.

Cakes!

Last week when Francois was away at his conference, I spent some time looking at cakes. One night we sat down and decided on your cake, the groomscake, and the cake topper, which we are going to make ourselves using Sculpey. Which reminds me, I need to go pay for the Sculpey on ebay. We are not going to tell you what they are so, it will be a totally awesome surprise!!

Nothing else has really been going on here wedding wise.

French Site

So translations for the French site are not going as fast as I thought. I guess Francois must be busy with work or something. I'll definitely try to have it up as soon as possible though. As of right now there are only two pages yet, the one about our families and the one about our bridal party. Francois is going to ask his parents to write their own biographies, so that part should be done quickly.

French Version

So yesterday I started getting the site ready for the French version to come online. I am now just waiting for Francois to translate it, and then it will be ready to launch. This might not happen right away, because I have a job interview tomorrow, and if I get it, I will not have as much free time as I do now.

Invitations and Save-the-dates

I know I'm jumping ahead of myself a bit, but yesterday I made a invitation prototype. It looks pretty good, and it was way easier than I thought it was going to be. I guess the actual invitations will have more decorations, and the edges will be straighter, but really I don't think it will be too hard.

The Save-the-dates on the other hand are turning out to be more more thought consuming. We've gone through three or four ideas, and so far none of them work as well as I would like. I'm not sure I have the patience to spend 40 hours designing them on GIMP. And soon I might not have the time either, as I have gotten a job interview at H&M.

We are thinking of making a French version of this site as well, but it has to wait until Francois can translate it. I guess you'll notice when it's up, as the starting page will ask if you want English or French.

Haggis, accent and touristy considerations.

If we do get married in Scotland, I'd recommend at least one full Scottish breakfast for the bravest. It makes you feel like screaming "Freedom!" at the top of your lungs while being cut open... No wait, that's long hair and a kilt... whatever.

It was an amazing weekend: we spent most of our time driving around, trying to see all the stuff you could get to see. There is definitely touring material up there, and from a previous trip, I could say that Edinburgh (say it with me: HA-DIM-BERAH!, with a nice Italian-like 'r', of course) deserves at least a whole day. Anyhow, there should be more on this once I'm done reviewing things and Heather and I start digging through the pictures and posting them on Google Maps.

This week

So this has been a pretty good week for the wedpage. I finished it, François wrote his bits, and we launched it yesterday. This evening, I even added a guestbook, so everybody should go sign it!

Also, this last weekend we went up to Scotland to see the castle we were hoping to get married in. It was amazing! We've also been tossing around dates, and will have to contact the wedding co-ordinator at the castle to get things finalized!

For the remainder of the week I think that I will be doing the lodging, transport, and tourism bits of the site. Don't forget to check back soon as I also have a bunch of pictures to add!

We also have to thank Nathan, who decided that our original url was lame and bought www.heather-francois.com for our wedding site! I have to admit that it was kind of lame... www.hf-ourwedding.isgreat.com. So three cheers for Nathan!!

The next few days.

Tomorrow and Thursday: Work for me and random stuff that needs done for Heather. But Friday... we're taking off to Glasgow, from where we'll drive to Duns, enjoying the Scottish South and the lowlands on the way. Program of that romantic weekend? Nothing really, until we get a free and personal visit of a private castle, that just happens to maybe be fit for a wedding of our's class.

We'll send updates as soon as we're done shouting: "Fantastic!" in a very British fashion.
But before leaving, I should really thank Nathan for offering us this nice and tidy URL instead of the ugly beastie we had before... You should thank him too for not having to remember anything else than our names.
